Using a Totally Free Registry Cleaner to Save Money and Fix Computer Errors
2008 may well be the year computer owners realize a good registry cleaner is a necessary part of their computer maintenance arsenal. We all already realize we must use a virus/spyware cleaner often, and hopefully, we all realize we need some sort of backup system to keep copies of our important files.
A good registry cleaner is important because new operating systems, namely Windows XP and Windows Vista are so large their registries become easily corrupted. A corrupted registry will make the computer’s speed suffer tremendously. Even worse, registry corruption leads to computer errors and crashes.
There are many good registry cleaners on the market. Most of the better ones are inexpensive, particularly when compared to the cost of losing important files from your hard drive. Among the many registry cleaners around today there are some that are known as free registry cleaners. In this article, we will discuss free registry cleaners, how effective they are and if they are really worth having even though they are said to be free.
Free registry cleaner
With a free registry cleaner, you’re allowed to scan your computer’s registry and find how many errors exist there. Then, you’re allowed to repair up to 50 incidents of registry corruption. In reality, 50 incidents of corruption is nothing. Many times, when a computer’s registry is scanned for the first time hundreds of incidents of corruption are found. Sometimes, even thousands.
Once the 50 incidents of corruption have been removed, the registry cleaner will present you with a pop-up that is just about impossible to get rid of. This pop-up acts as a sort of black mail to get you to pay $30 or so for this so-called free registry cleaner and then, in return for your money, the pop-up will disappear.
Before you scan your computer with a free registry cleaner, you’ll have to send the company your e-mail address. With this information, the company will SPAM you continuously in an attempt to get you to buy products from them. If you do buy the free registry cleaner from them, they will continue sending you e-mails anyway. I guess this is a fringe benefit of being a paid customer of a free registry cleaner company.
Certified Vista Compatible?
Also, though this may not be important to everyone, every free registry cleaner I’ve looked at so far was not a Vista compatible registry cleaner. Certainly, none of them wore the coveted title of being an actual certified Vista registry cleaner.
In short, free registry cleaners are not at all free, and from my experience, I haven’t seen any of them that were very effective, either. It is usually the case that you get what you pay for. However, this is not true of free registry cleaners because they cost as much, if not more than some of the best registry cleaners available today.
The best registry cleaner
The best way to find a registry cleaner that will serve you well at a reasonable price is to buy one on the recommendation of someone you can trust. This is always that the best way to buy any product, particularly electronic products. Knowing someone who has had firsthand experience with such a product will take the guesswork out of buying one. Then, once you’ve found the right one, you can be the person who does the recommending.
Though the price of registry cleaning programs is not high, the price of using one that causes your computer harm is a very high! Therefore, hearsay from someone who has experience with a registry cleaner is important information.
In closing, remember a registry cleaner is important because it removes false entries from a registry and false entries are left in a registry when something has been deleted from the computer. One thing that commonly gets deleted from a computer is spyware and viruses. So actually, a registry cleaner finishes the job a spyware/virus cleaner starts. So don’t forget to have a good spyware cleaner as well as a good registry cleaner. And make sure to always have your important files backed up!
